We are now looking for a coordinating project manager for ongoing and planned projects to adapt the Ultuna campus to the upcoming tramway construction.

About the job

In Uppsala, the construction of a tramway is planned, where parts of the planned tramway route will go through SLU's campus area in Ultuna. Due to the municipality's tramway project, SLU needs to adapt its operations along the tramway route to the upcoming new conditions and manage adjustments and evacuation solutions during the tramway construction.

As the coordinating project manager, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating internal and external operational adjustments and changed space requirements for the university's activities related to the upcoming tramway construction through Campus Ultuna.

You will work closely with the project manager and SLU's steering group for tramway issues and have frequent contact with various representatives of the operations, property owners, Uppsala municipality, and other departments within the university's operational support. You will be responsible for and independently lead the planning, coordination, and follow-up of all sub-projects.

Some sub-projects will be managed by you.

Responsibilities:

  • Project coordination (timelines, activities, resource planning, follow-up, and reporting),
  • Project management of sub-projects,
  • Preparation of governing project documents and decision-making materials,
  • Conducting investigations and analyses,
  • Monitoring compliance with agreements
  • Ensuring project progress and minimizing disruptions to operations
  • Collaboration, information dissemination, communication, and dialogue with our affected operations as well as internal and external stakeholders

Your background

  • You have several years of experience working with property issues, particularly regarding requirements and managing local and construction projects from order to final delivery, as well as handling tenant adjustments, preferably within a university or higher education environment.
  • You have experience successfully leading project groups towards set goals.
  • You have experience coordinating and leading larger projects with multiple sub-projects.
  • You have experience finding solutions to complex challenges.
  • You are accustomed to working systematically according to established governing documents.

You have the ability to create and maintain good contacts and collaborations and enjoy working together with others in a group to collectively solve challenging issues. You are a responsible and action-oriented person, accustomed to methodically driving issues towards set goals and timelines.

We also expect you to have:

  • University/higher education degree in a relevant field such as project management, architecture, civil engineering, or property management.
  • Several years of documented experience in project management with good results.
  • Several years of documented experience in coordinating work within property issues, preferably within the university or higher education sector.
  • Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

About us

The Department of Infrastructure, Infra, is part of the central operational support at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, SLU. Infra's task is to provide cost-effective, tailored, and well-functioning service solutions both locally at our main locations in Umeå, Uppsala, and Alnarp, where we are represented, but also to contribute to service development for the entire SLU. Overall, the department also handles local supply issues and lease administration and guides and supports in environmental and safety issues. We and our employees are expected to actively contribute to the university's development through engagement and initiative. Infra has about 120 employees and an annual turnover of around 110 million SEK.

The unit for premises and projects is tasked with developing and adapting premises and campus areas for SLU's activities in the short and long term. The unit is also responsible for lease administration, lease agreement management and negotiations, land leases, student housing, and the botanical garden in Ultuna. The unit currently consists of a unit manager/project manager, strategist, space planner, project manager, property economist, outdoor environment coordinator, gardener, and campus developer. The unit is represented in Ultuna and Alnarp.
